The Meehan Lecture & Teaching GRANTS
Mary Beth Meehan installs Witness, an exhibition on the life and times of Annye Raye Pitts. 2021.
Named in honor of documentary photographer and educator Mary Beth Meehan—whose practice exemplifies deep relational ethics, visual literacy, and an unwavering generosity as a teacher and mentor—this grant underwrites visiting artist lectures, technical masterclasses, cohort critique seminars, and curatorial dialogue facilitation (including moderated artist-in-conversation talks, exhibition roundtables, and public oral history salons) for public secondary schools, youth media labs, community centers, grassroots cultural spaces, and underfunded academic programs.
Shared Investment Terms
The grant underwrites up to 100% of standard studio honorariums, instructional fees, and speaking rates ($750–$3,500 standard institutional valuation). Host institutions cover direct, at-cost regional transit/mileage from Providence, RI (and lodging if travel exceeds same-day return).
